Etymology

The country's name comes from the name of the mountain range, which in turn comes from Biblical Hebrew לְבָנוֹן (ləḇānôn), from Proto-Semitic *laban- (white) (compare Hebrew לָבָן (lāḇān, white), Arabic لَبَن (laban, milk)).
