Automatically link components?[edit]

If I understand correctly, this template includes the name of the page it's used on, with the individual components linking to the pages for them, along with sometimes the version in the other writing system. Perhaps the module should do the linking automatically instead of requiring the user to add the [[]] in the parameter, if this is possible? --Yair rand (talk) 04:53, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with this is, on pages with simplified entries, the simplified section of this template would have the [[]] wrapped around individual characters and the traditional section would have the [[]] around the whole compound. Vice versa for pages with traditional entries. I am not quite sure how to get around this. JamesjiaoTC 21:18, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why init?[edit]

Why the name "init"? In my experience that's usually the name of an initializer (a sort of deferred constructor), which isn't applicable here. Personally, I've been using the name "main", figuring that Scribunto functions callable directly from templates are analogous to "main" functions in languages like C and Java that are callable directly from the shell. —RuakhTALK 07:37, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Mandarin entries[edit]

@Jamesjiao Can we link individual Hanzi to Mandarin (or Chinese in the future)?, e.g. 个, not 个, please? (Admittedly, individual Hanzi need a lot of attention and "Translingual" currently gives more info, than "Mandarin"). --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 05:42, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't that mean we have to somehow deal with the issue of having to manually include the [[]] at the moment? Once we can solve that problem, we can then deal with this issue I think. JamesjiaoTC 21:21, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not quite sure what you mean about linking but the Japanese equivalent ja-kanjitab links to individual kanji in Japanese 個, not 個. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 00:36, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ideally there shouldn't be any [[]] in the input. Word boundaries should be specified by other parameters, not through [[]]. eg. 工业化 should have , much like what User:Wyang/zh-forms is doing in User:Wyang/歷史 and User:Wyang/僥幸. That's an excellent idea. You are the better programmer :). JamesjiaoTC 20:44, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"or", ellipsis ... or ……, etc.[edit]

Should the format using "or" be changed? Also, should instances with ... be globally replaced with native …… and entries renamed to use it, like 一边……一边……? --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 02:03, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
