[edit]A twentieth century invention usually interpreted as a variant of Saara (“Sarah”), rhyming with other popular 1960s names, Ari, Jari and Mari. Other possible sources are the place name Sariola in the Kalevala, and Hungarian Sári (a pet form of Sára).
