Proto-Germanic *Skaþinawjō ‎(Scania), Old English Scedenig, Old Norse Skaney ‎(southern tip of Sweden), from *awjō ‎(island) cf. Old English ī(e)g ‎(island), Old Norse ey, Danish ø, Swedish ö ‎(island)), adapted to follow Latvian patterns (suffix -ija)
