The following information has failed Wiktionary's deletion process (permalink).
It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.
SOP: 福州 (Fuzhou) + 市 (city). — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 17:07, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- Delete: SOP. I see, though, that we have entries for 上海市, 天津市, 紐約市/纽约市, and 胡志明市. All of these should be deleted too. —Mr. Granger (talk • contribs) 23:46, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- How about New York City ? Siuenti (talk) 23:14, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- I would say weakly delete as I consider suffixing Province, State, County, City, etc. to place names too redundant for us here. Exceptions should be carefully considered.--Jusjih (talk) 00:17, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- On the note of New York City, it is kept because NYC is far more well-known and used than its other name, New York. In fact one could argue that the shortening came from the name New York City. Philmonte101 (talk) 00:32, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- I think New York City is idiomatic in English: compare *Cincinnati City, *San Francisco City. Still, I may have been too hasty—upon reflection, I'm not sure about 紐約市/纽约市 and 胡志明市. But I still think 福州市, 上海市, and 天津市 should be deleted. —Mr. Granger (talk • contribs) 01:12, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
