RFD discussion: April–May 2019[edit]

The following information has failed Wiktionary's deletion process (permalink).

It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.

"Long tail" and "short tail".

These words are composed of the characters for "long" and "tail", and "short" and "tail" respectively.

I think these entries should be deleted because clearly they are sums of their parts. --Corsicanwarrah (talk) 10:37, 5 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Good catch. You will see them though as components in animal/species names. But apart from that they are more than decipherable from their parts. So delete. (Original creator of respective entries.) ---> Tooironic (talk) 15:43, 5 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Delete per above. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 22:08, 7 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Comment: Chinese characters are usually not words but bound morphemes. In the page of 长尾蹶鼠属, they write “长尾蹶鼠属(学名Sicista),是生活在沙漠地区的小型跳鼠,具有很长的尾巴和长长的后腿。” In ordinary construction, one says “很尾巴” for “long tail”. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 01:40, 4 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
