@Dokurrat: North Koreans call the whole of Korea and their country (without contrasting North and South) 조선 (朝鮮, Joseon). A similar phenomenon happens in South Korea with the term 한국 (韓國, Han'guk). Since both South Koreans and North Koreans know what the other side calls Korea, this usage is understandable. Compare to how 國語／国语 (guóyǔ) is used to refer to the Taiwanese variety of Mandarin (rather than just "Mandarin") by Chinese from mainland China. --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 05:33, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

@Wyang: Is this sense really used in South Korea's lanugage? I cannot rule out a possibility: The difinition in Daum.net is an explanation of North Korea's term of self-address, which is not used in South Korea. Dokurrat (talk) 06:27, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

@Dokurrat The cites look good to me! I don't think the label of sense #4 should really be changed. The name Joseon is used chiefly in North Korea to refer to Korea as a whole. Wyang (talk) 10:30, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
