I'm guessing this should be in the Arabic index page. Any opinions? — Hippietrail 11:22, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I know no Arabic, but I think you might be right. The characters at the right-hand ends of blocks of consecutive words (ie, the words' initial characters) are the same, so this does look like an alphabetical (if that is an appropriate term) list of Arabic words. — Paul G 09:13, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Hmm looking at it a bit closer it's not in Arabic alphabetical order, even if you strip the articles first. There is a very similar page on the Hungarian Wiktionary by the way: [1]Hippietrail 01:49, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I had no idea these can be cut-n-pasted into google. Sadly, I'm not much wiser now. For me, the text-box editor reacts strangely, always trying to force me right-to-left, but only when I'm on Arabic characters. I can't seem to bracket the first or last term correctly. Hmmmm. فيل seems to be "elephant", according to de.wiktionary.com. This is too tedious to try when I don't understand the left-right rules in effect here. (Not that I would know *how* to type these characters anyhow.) --Connel MacKenzie 06:54, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Alphabetized and cleaned up a bit. —Stephen 11:27, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology - express clearly or arabise[edit]

Etymology - "express clearly" or "arabise" are almost the same thing, so the verb ‎3arraba, 'á3raba and the noun ‎3arab (Arabs) are all related and have the same trilateral root - عرب . I would put the following text: ===Etymology=== From Arabic عرب (‎3arab) "Arabs" or عربي (‎3arabiy) "Arab" (adjective), "Arabic". Anatoli 04:27, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Self-referential definition[edit]

   Arab
Adjective: Of or pertaining to Arabs.
     Noun: An Arab person.

Such a useless dictionary definition I have never before seen. Oktal 15:57, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
