Pronunciation with /z/ instead of /k/[edit]

To me it sounds like he pronounces it ksósa (ks as in eks). This would be the unsophisticated way that a lot of Americans would try to pronounce that word, since most have never heard it pronounced correctly in their lives (nor incorrectly, for that matter). Words that begin with x are very confusing to Americans, and there are several weird pronunciations that they may attempt. —Stephen (Talk) 00:42, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It does sound like either /z/, or possibly /(g)z/, probably based on words like xylophone. A Google search for "Xhosa"+"Zosa" shows that at least a few people (one here) have pronounced it that way, but they all seem to have come to recognize that that was nonstandard. It's probably too rare to mention. - -sche (discuss) 01:19, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is definitely [z], I do not hear any [g~k]. There may be very slight [dz] affrication going on due to the preceding /n/ of the word and. --WikiTiki89 03:12, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
