"...who induces psychosomatic facial itching." ORLY? --Pas un coiffeur (talk) 12:09, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I've removed that - I also think these two definitions could probably be merged:
  1. (informal, derogatory) Someone unpleasantly strange or eccentric.
  2. (informal, derogatory) A frightening and/or disconcerting person, especially one who gives the speaker chills.

new(ish) use heard in lyrics?

  • Shaggy, It Wasn't Me (2000):
    Honey came in and she caught me red-handed / Creeping with the girl next door / Picture this we were both butt naked / Banging on the bathroom floor
  • Mario Winans, I Don't Wanna Know (2003):
    I don't wanna know / If you're playin' me, keep it on the low / 'Cause my heart can't take it anymore / And if you're creepin', please don't let it show

"(informal, derogatory) A frightening or disconcerting person, especially one who gives the speaker chills. Stop following me, you creep!" Needs to be verified independently of this other sense: "(informal, derogatory) Someone unpleasantly strange or eccentric. Synonym: weirdo". Equinox 03:31, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

In 2007, an IP changed the definition to a rather strangely specific one. The response was to restore the original definition and to fork off the strange one as a separate sense. This sense is what's left after the strangest part was removed. Chuck Entz (talk) 04:38, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Incidentally, we don't capture the common implication of some sort of sexual harassment: the creep isn't the "eccentric" "weirdo" nerd who plays Dungeons & Dragons, but rather the one who pinches bottoms or takes upskirt pictures. We're missing this at creepy too. Equinox 04:41, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It seems that the word was mainly, if not exclusively, used with the generic meaning in the 20th century. I found a book where it was used to disparage a baseball player who went home halfway through the match, without seeming to imply any sexual misbehaviour on his part. It then took on the specifically sexual overtones in the 21st century. I've collected some quotes but would love to be proven wrong. This, that and the other (talk) 23:55, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@This, that and the other It's a baseball GAME, not a match. DCDuring (talk) 23:40, 14 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

RFV-failed. This entry could still use some TLC though. This, that and the other (talk) 07:06, 14 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
