Il y a How it can be "there is"

If we break "IL Y A". It will be Il = He y = y a = has

Can any one explain.

il (it) + y (there) + a (has), literally “it has there ...”. Wyang (talk) 12:45, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Existence and possession are close in West European languages, such as there is a swing in the park and the park has a swing. In French, existence is expressed by a possessive construction with an expletive subject il, which has no referent. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 15:33, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I kinda came here for the etymology, but there isn't one on the page. please add one.
