Jew down[edit]

The term gyp is identified as offensive and derogatory, why is there no such contextualization on the entry for Jew down? It is extremely insulting and needs the same cautionary framing as gyp. Kneumannrea (talk) 01:00, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

It's already labeled as offensive- which it certainly is. I'm not sure that derogatory is a good label, however, since it's not necessarily used to directly attack anyone: not uncommonly it's used to refer to one's own actions- even in a boastful way. What makes it offensive is the racism that it's built out of, not who or what it's directed at. Chuck Entz (talk) 03:46, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Jew up[edit]

...also exists (if a buyer jews down a price to seek a bargain, a seller jews up a price).

He jewed me up to twenty-five—I agreed.

Not sure whether to create jew up for this, or cover it at jew (see Talk:jew). - -sche (discuss) 21:23, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
