Nullification is a legal theory that a U.S. State has the right to nullify, or invalidate, any federal law that a state has deemed unconstitutional.

Meaning in French[edit]

The French word "nullification" does not appear to be a general equivalent to the English word. It doesn't appear in the 9th Academy dictionary at all, and Larousse and the Trésor list it as a word used only in reference to American history. I will edit the entry accordingly.
