Talk:potato
Polish translation
[edit]Please note that the Polish word "pyra" for a potato is used exclusively in the region of Greater Poland and it probably won't be understood elsewhere. — This unsigned comment was added by 85.221.170.61 (talk) at 17:54, 8 May 2006 (UTC).

Pronunciation: poteito/potahto
[edit]Should we add something about this? Meneth (talk) 02:49, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Nobody anywhere pronounces it "potahto", as far as I know. Certainly in Britain we don't; it isn't like "tomato". Equinox ◑ 03:31, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- This is silly. We've had the discussion before and it had a long history before us. Rather than do it again, let's call the whole thing off. DCDuring TALK 04:29, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. But it's pronounced "potahto" in the phrase, and this phrase should be mentioned somewhere. How do you spell it? potato, potahto has some hits. Kolmiel (talk) 01:52, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, I've just seen that we already have potayto, potahto. It's also in the derived terms already. So we actually have added something about it. Kolmiel (talk) 01:57, 6 November 2015 (UTC)

"Potatoes" as slang for "money"
[edit]Possibly only in Damon Runyon? e.g. "Mr. Justin Veezee has plenty of potatoes". Equinox ◑ 01:33, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- 1954: "the Irish builder's labourer can earn his potatoes at the third quickest rate in Europe." DCDuring (talk) 01:37, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Interwiki links are broken
[edit]Hi, just letting you know that {{t+}}
is not working on سیبزَمینی (fa) (sib-zamini) with "fa-ira", it should link to Persian wiki's fa:سیبزمینی, just like سیبزَمینی (fa) (sib-zamini) with "fa". (Should also work with fa-cls")
The rest of the functionality seems to be much better. Thanks! Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:36, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Benwing2, @Sameerhameedy:
- I tried to add "fa-cls" and "fa-ira" the same way in diff. It didn't fix the interwiki problem. Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:40, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Atitarev I thought I fixed this before. I will take a look tomorrow or the next day. Benwing2 (talk) 07:46, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
