They look to be encyclopedic if accurate, SoP if defined at dictionary length. But I look forward to being surprised. DCDuring TALK 23:56, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per an old RFC, if this were to be given a proper definition, it'd be SOP. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:36, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe, but the term is almost exclusively used in business/finance/behavioral economics with a definition like: "the extent to wish a decision-maker, such as investor or businessperson, is willing to accept more risk in exchange for the possibility of a higher return". DCDuring (talk) 00:29, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't yet found a definition of tolerance that fits this, though "willingness or ability to tolerate (something)" would seem adequate. But such a definition is not to be found in most references at tolerance”, in OneLook Dictionary Search.. Oxford has "The ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with." The normal definitions of tolerance don't encompass the idea of a tradeoff between risk and return. DCDuring (talk) 00:59, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Absent further participation one way or the other, I intend to close this as no consensus in another day or two. bd2412 T 01:23, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem like it's (just a context-specific use of) a SOP term, and I don't see another general-use dictionary that has it, so delete. We probably need to add or expand a definition at tolerance though, for ability to tolerate something, like when people speak of "low bullshit tolerance" in the same vein as "alcohol tolerance" (and "risk tolerance", "a low danger tolerance", "low hazard tolerance", etc). - -sche (discuss) 16:15, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
