etymology[edit]

The etymology in the English definition doesn't fit with the definitions in the linked pages. It says *(s)tewp- means “to wonder” but the *(s)tewp- page says it means "to push, to stick," it then says that *(s)tew- means “to stand, stay” but the *(s)tew- page says it means "to push, to hit." This discrepancy should be resolved.

out of fashion[edit]

I had thought "stupid" was out of fashion, but I just heard it on SportsCenter, describing a LeBron James dunk. Of course, that may not actually mean it's not dated . . . -dmh 05:41, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

russian[edit]

Note: it's extremely rare in russian to use тупоумный/тупоумная/тупоумное.

"Dangerous, obstructive. I fell over the stupid wire." I think this is just a term of abuse for the wire (like "get that damned dog out of the way") and does not say anything about dangerousness. If I am wrong, please cite it. Equinox 21:43, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. Mglovesfun (talk) 08:36, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. But this abusive sense should itself be out there. Needs a rewrite -- maybe something like "(abusively) Annoying, darn." -- · 16:11, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Totally agree. Done. JamesjiaoTC 22:16, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
