(This page serves as an overview for me to keep track of progress on my long-term project of improving Wiktionary's coverage of the Gothic language. You're welcome to help out with any of the to-do's found here!)

Since virtually every attested form has now been added, remaining tasks are mainly the improvement of existing entries and the addition of proper nouns and their attested forms. For example, see Category:Gothic entry maintenance, and add topic/set categories where applicable. Category:Requests for etymologies in Gothic entries‎ and Category:Requests for expansion of etymologies in Gothic entries‎ can probably do with some trimming as well.

  • Gothic letter names in the Codex Vindobonensis 795 (anon added *𐍄𐌴𐌹𐍅𐍃 (*teiws); think about if this is desirability and if we should have an entry for the actual spellings encountered, e.g. tyz in this case)
  • Affixes: (Miller 2019 is a good resource here)
    • not really sure if 𐌸𐌰𐌹𐍂𐌷- (þairh-) and 𐍆𐌰𐌿𐍂𐌰- (faura-) and 𐍆𐌰𐌿𐍂- (faur-) and 𐌿𐍆𐌰𐍂- (ufar-) should have entries separate from their regular adverb forms (compound or prefix?). probably follow German example and have separate prefix pages also for waila- and some others? idk. certainly by the same logic 𐌿𐌽𐌳 (und) ought to have a prefix entry too - or not
    • Add? -𐌸𐍅𐌰 (-þwa), -𐍅𐌰𐌿𐍂𐌳𐍃, maybe a single -il- entry for the ilo, ila, etc. suffixes?; -atjan; what to do with *𐌸𐌿𐌷𐍄𐍃 (*þūhts) - suffix?; -𐌾𐍉 (-jō)

• Category:Gothic class 3 weak verbs needs macrons manually added to transliterations of all the verbs for the -ā- // not sure where I got this idea and I need to somehow find a source that addresses the long ā in c3 weak verb infinitives claim // User talk:Mnemosientje/2017#Long a in Gothic class 3 weak verbs and Ringe 2006 p.258 (note: only in the factitive class 3 weak verbs) however see the discussion (not resolved)
• Various:
  • Gothic determiners also have weak forms in their tables? PGmc entries only have strong forms. why. if Gothic only should have the strong forms, some entries gonna need to be fixed
  • Get past participle forms out of Category:Gothic adjective forms and into Category:Gothic participle forms by modeling entries after e.g. 𐌼𐌰𐌽𐍅𐌹𐌸 instead of adjective-form entries and ctrl+f-ing the former category for forms using -id-/-ith-
  • 𐍅𐌹𐌸𐍂𐌰𐍅𐌰𐌹𐍂𐌸𐍃 (wiþrawairþs) - probably needs some sort of related preposition POS header?
  • How do you tell ei- and ji-type class 1 weak verbs apart if the only attested form doesn't give it away? E.g. tagrjan, tweifljan, etc. - what are the underlying factors determining this // this has to do with the core syllable, double check I suppose in Miller
  • note hapaxes using lb|got|hapax (Köbler useful to check)
  • got-nom form of doesn't play nicely when comp-of specifies a reconstructed positive adjective degree, as at spedizei, azetizo
• Words w/ uncertain lemmata probably need a clear and unified approach - currently it's a bit of a mess:

Adding lemmata

Virtually every attested form has now been added to Wiktionary. What remains to be added:

• Proper nouns at http://www.wulfila.be/gothic/browse/lemmata/?pos=1 Most of these remain to be added, and those that have been added often lack inflected form entries on Wiktionary. The romanizations, when created, should not be capitalized initially; see 𐌼𐌰𐌺𐌹𐌳𐍉𐌽𐌾𐌰 (makidōnja) for an example. (= sometimes done, as on wulfila.be, for ease of reading, but as a transliteration is an anachronism; Gothic is an uncial script which does not distinguish between upper/lowercase)
• Glosses from all mss, and words from some of the more obscure sources (e.g. the Codex Vindobonensis 795 or the Mangup inscriptions) may also remain to be added. (Koebler lists them among the attestations; ctrl+f "GlA ", "GlA;", etc)
• Forms that are only attested as a contraction, like jag-gapaidoda may still be absent (add as if two words, thus don't add an entry jaggapaidoda but only gapaidoda).

Irregular words requiring attention

Found in Category:Requests for inflections in Gothic entries, these often inflect irregularly and will probably need separate templates; deal with them whenever. They are among the very few lemma entries that don't have entries for all attested forms yet.

Also, words needing special/adjusted inflection templates:

• 𐍈𐌰𐍃 (ƕas), 𐍈𐌰𐌶𐌿𐌷 (ƕazuh) (because of 𐍈𐍉 (ƕō) and 𐍈𐍉𐌷 (ƕōh), respectively)
• U-stem nouns ending in -jus get a weird nom pl in current inflection tables, eg drunjus and the various compounds with *waddjus. No nom pl is attested for any u-stem with a -jus nom sg, so probably a custom inflection table needs to be made clarifying this.

Nota bene

• pseudo-participials are a thing: 𐌱𐌻𐍉𐌸𐌰𐍂𐌹𐌽𐌽𐌰𐌽𐌳𐍃 (blōþarinnands), more at http://www.wulfila.be/gothic/browse/lemmata/?inf=37.
• {{got-compound of}} -- this exists, but is probably not a good template for stuff like 𐌵𐌹𐌸𐌿𐌷 (qiþuh) because it categorizes them as a lemma (see edit hist at that entry); for verbs with the -uh clitic find something different (contraction is not ideal, see Talk:𐌹𐌽𐌿𐌷𐍃𐌰𐌽𐌳𐌹𐌳𐌴𐌳𐌿𐌽). // also note that this doesn't add these to an -u / -uh suffix cat, because the contraction template doesn't do that
