Bluelinks[edit]

Can the bluelinks be removed, if entries for these words now exist? 24.29.228.33 21:42, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, assuming the entry actually for Finnish.--Solomonfromfinland (talk) 19:20, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, i removed a blue link, "avaimet käteen"; here is the brief discussion for it:
This seems idiomatic to me, but I'm not sure of its part of speech. It is used attributively in terms like avaimet käteen -toimitus, avaimet käteen -talopaketti or avaimet käteen -talo, but it isn't a normal adjective as it is never inflected. Only seldom is it used without a headword and then usually with quotation marks as in Miksi kannattaa valita rakentaminen ”Avaimet käteen”?. Its English equivalent is turnkey which article currently gives avaimet käteen as Finnish translation. I have added avaimet käteen as usex under avain and directed the Finnish translation of "turnkey" to avain, but is that sufficient? --Hekaheka (talk) 07:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copying entries to their articles' discussion[edit]

Perhaps it would be a good idea to copy the entries here to the discussion pages of their respective articles, as they these entries normally have additional (and important) information concerning their the word's use. Wisapi 18:19, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if they are better here, because no one looking for a term would know to look for it here. If there's something worth keeping, a better place would be the discussion page of the respective entry. --Hekaheka 18:25, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, that's what I tried to say :) Wisapi 16:09, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A bit confused[edit]

It's a bit hard to tell what actually still needs addressing, since it looks like most of these are resolved. That is judging by the comments left below or beside each word. How does one figure out the real needs? Thanks.

Kven[edit]

@Hekaheka: Not sure where best to leave this, but there's a request from the Unidentified page for a Kven word, kvääni. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 07:26, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to this [1] dictionary it means "Kven". In Finnish it is spelled "kveeni". --Hekaheka (talk) 07:43, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I made a stub of it (it doesn't appear we have any infrastructure for Kven inflection tables at the moment). —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:06, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup?[edit]

The page is filled with some blue links and a bunch of still red link requests from 2010 or thereabouts. It's probably better to clean the page up, I'm not sure what to do with the red links though. I feel a lot of those wouldn't warrant their own entries. SURJECTION ·talk·contr·log· 07:11, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Hekaheka Any ideas on how to do this the best way? SURJECTION ·talk·contr·log· 19:59, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Don't know really. The page used to be three times the current size, but it is still big. One possibility might be to copy the approach of some other request-pages: to create an archive for everything older than, say, a year - and then forget it for ever. --Hekaheka (talk) 20:15, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Archiving is one option, although I'm not sure whether any other entry request page does it. It may be better to go over all the requests and decide for the final time which to include and which to not, based on whether they fulfill the criteria for inclusion. I could take this up.
