Sorry, I don't follow. Unless you mean that the vast majority of terms that belong to any coded language will belong to every coded language, such that very few terms will need to be context-tagged as coded-language–specific? —Ruakh_TALK 00:57, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for digging. I can't think about how 'id' categories exist if the unified Malay is approved. Because some terms only specially have in Indonesian but not in other Malays. --Octahedron80 (talk) 11:09, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

There are differences between Indonesian and Malay but they are not huge. Serbo-Croatian uses are labels, e.g. {{qualifier|Croatia}}, which could be used for 'id' and 'ms', if they differ. I supported Norwegian merger (failed), the Chinese merger (passed), Romanian/Moldavian (passed) and would support Arabic, if it happened. I have reservations about the possibility of Hindi and Urdu merger. Unfortunately, we don't have enough long-term contributors for Malay/Indonesian and Hindi/Urdu. A new discussion has been started at Wiktionary:Beer parlour/2018/September#Malay as an ISO 639 macrolanguage. I would suggest having a unified Malay section (Malay as a macrolanguage, as defined in the List of ISO 639-2 codes) for the dialect continuum used in the Malay archipelago. This section will have a unified etymology header followed by regional variants such as "Indonesian", "standard Malay" etc. KevinUp (talk) 11:55, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
