Etymology

From the supposed Ancient Greek ἀγοστέω (agostéō, “to clasp, hold”) + -ic.[1]

agostic

  1. (organic chemistry) Describing a structure in which a hydrogen atom is bonded to both a carbon (or silicon) atom and a metal atom in a three-center, two-electron interaction.
