Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish بیومك (biyümek), بویمك (büyümek, to increase in size, grow, to rise in rank or importance), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Turkic *bedü- (to become bigger, grow).[1]

Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (beδü-, to grow up), Old Uyghur [script needed] (bedü-, to grow, increase), Azerbaijani böyümək (to grow up), Tuvan бедиир (bediir, to rise, go up).

büyümek (third-person singular simple present büyür)
