[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish باصدرمق (basdırmaḳ, “to let or make press, to make or let printed, to overpower, to suppress”),[1][2] from Ottoman Turkish باصمق (basmaḳ), morphologically bas- + -tır + -mak
