Etymology[edit]

From older cascun, from Vulgar Latin *casquunum, a conflation of Latin quisque unum ("each one") and *catunum, from cata (<Ancient Greek κατά ‎(katá)) unum. Or from a crossing of cada and Old Catalan quiscun. Compare Occitan cadun, chascun, French chacun, Italian ciascuno.
