Noun
- (weightlifting) (US) An exercise done for strengthening the arms and back, in which one lifts one's own weight while hanging from a bar. It can be defined more restrictively on criteria like the arms starting at lock-out, or the chin requiring contact with the bottom of the bar, or touching the neck to the bar.
- specifically, such an exercise with palms toward the shoulders.
- There might be handles that are parallel to each other, giving you a grip option that's halfway in between a pull-up and chin-up.
- In a pull-up, your hands are pronated (which means palms are facing away from the body) and your grip is wider. In a chin-up, your hands are supinated (palms are toward the body) and your grip is more narrow.
- specifically, such an exercise with palms toward the shoulders.
