English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

crone +‎ -ing

Noun[edit]

croning (countable and uncountable, plural cronings)

  1. A Wiccan or feminist ceremony that recognizes older women as wise and experienced "crones".
    • 2001, Kaatryn MacMorgan, All One Wicca, page 111:
In many traditions, passage rites mark the passage into later maturity, but some feel that the emphasis placed on "cronings" and similar rituals lessen [sic] the experiences for people at other stages of life, or even discredit those people.
