Etymology[edit]

From Middle Welsh dosparth; By surface analysis, du- +‎ gosbarth, gwosbarth (order, rule, government), the latter from gos- (meaningless prefix) +‎ parth (zone, region, part), with gos-, gwos- from Proto-Celtic *wo-eks (onomatopoeia for an explosion).
