Turkish

Etymology

Likely from Old Turkic [script needed] (kapar-, to swell) (by association with the swelling of decomposing corpses); if so, a doublet of kabarmak (to swell) and related to gebe (pregnant), göbek (navel).

Verb

gebermek

  1. (slang) to die, to bite the dust

Usage notes

  • It sounds very rude and generally used for someone/something that wasn't loved.
