Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle High German heln, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German helan, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Germanic *helaną. Cognate with helmet, hele, Swedish hälare ("fence, receiver and seller of stolen goods").
