[edit]Akin to Old Turkic [script needed] (yigren-, “to be disgusted, abhor”), maybe from Old Turkic [script needed] (yīg, “raw, uncooked (meat)”),[1] from Proto-Turkic *yigre- (“to hate, abhor”).[2] See çiğ.
