From Latin hydraulicus, from Ancient Greek ὑδραυλικός (hudraulikós, of a water organ), from ὕδραυλις (húdraulis, water organ), from ὕδωρ (húdōr, water) +‎ αὐλός (aulós, pipe)[1]. Cognate with Piedmontese idràulich.
