Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قاقمق (kakmak, to push, tap), from Proto-Turkic *KAk- (to hit, knock, tear).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (qaq-, to hit), Kyrgyz кагуу (kaguu, to knock), Southern Altai кагар (kagar, to knock), Uzbek qoqmoq.
