Usage notes
[edit]- pot may be translated as kattila, pata or even pannu.
- kattila refers to a cylindrical vessel that is relatively thin and placed on a stove, also called a kettle in English.
- pata refers to a thick pot (such as one made of cast iron or ceramic) used for slow cooking (such as over open fire) and storing food.
- pannu refers to a pot that is exclusively used for brewing or serving drinks, often coming with a spout of some kind for pouring. Note that it may also be short for paistinpannu (“frying pan”).
