From Malay kebaya, then possibly borrowed from Portuguese cabaia, from Sinhalese කබාය (kabāya), singular form of කබා (kabā, coats), from Persian قب (long garment, cloak), from Arabic قَبَاء (qabāʔ, garment with long sleeves).[1]
