- A quarter of an hour, i.e. 15 minutes.
- The quarter(s) at (a) person(s)'s disposal to live in; one's living quarters.
- (now uncommon outside names) A neighborhood, defined part of a town or city.
- (heraldry) A quarter of an heraldic field.
- (genealogy, heraldry, chiefly plural) All of one's ancestors up to a specified degree, indicated by the maximum number of possible ancestors at a given level (2, 4, 8, 16, etc.), generally listed on a document; originally used for nobles whose coats of arms would be displayed on such a document.
- (dated outside names) A region.
