From Ancient Greek λειπογγράμμα(leipongrámma), from λείπω(leípō, leaving out) +‎ γράμμα(grámma, letter), 18th c.

  1. (literature) A word, or writing which does not use a particular symbol or symbols.
    "transubstantiationalists" is a particularly long lipogram, not using the letter "e"
