From Proto-Indo-European *leykʷ-. Cognates include Sanskrit रिणक्ति (riṇakti), Latin linquō, Old Armenian լքանեմ (lkʿanem), Proto-Germanic *līhwaną (to lend), Old Church Slavonic отлѣкъ (otlěkŭ, remains), Lithuanian ãt-laikas (remains), likti (to stay).
