Etymology[edit]

Remodelling of Proto-Indo-European *linékʷti, nasal-infix present of *leykʷ-. Synchronically լիք- (likʿ-) +‎ -ան- (-an-). The aorist ելիք (elikʿ), լիք (likʿ) is from Proto-Indo-European *(h₁é)-likʷet, thematic root aorist of *leykʷ-.
