magic link (plural magic links)

  1. (Internet) A time-sensitive hyperlink sent by email, allowing the recipient to log in to a system without the usual authentication process.
  2. (Wikimedia jargon) On MediaWiki, a feature that creates automatic links for certain hardcoded external identifiers, such as for ISBN numbers.
