mego

  1. Alternative form of mojego.

Spanish

Etymology

Most likely a contraction of either Latin mītificus (mild, soft, gentle), based on mītis (mild, mellow), or of mītigatus (softened), from mītigō (I make soft). Note, however, that similar forms exist in other European languages (compare English meek, Gothic 𐌼𐌿𐌺𐍃 (muks) and Old Norse mjúkr (soft, gentle), and Greek μαλακός (malakós, soft).

Alternatively from Latin magicus, and thus doublet to the borrowing mágico; cf. Portuguese, Leonese, and Galician meigo[1][2].

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈmeɡo/ [ˈme.ɣ̞o]

Adjective

mego (feminine mega, masculine plural megos, feminine plural megas)

  1. (archaic) gentle, mild, peaceable
    Synonyms: apacible, manso, tratable
