Blench (2014) offers Proto-Austroasiatic quasi-reconstruction *h.ŋaŋ. Compare Pacoh angoung (“goose”) and Bahnar ngong (“goose”).

ngan (“Muscovy duck”) is the non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese 雁 (“wild goose”, SV: nhạn).
