- enPR: pĕd'ə-răst'
Noun
pederast (plural pederasts)
- A man who is engaged in an erotic relationship with an adolescent boy; a practitioner of pederasty.
- Synonym: (literary, archaic) Uranian
Usage notes
- The term pederast has sometimes been incorrectly used to describe men sexually involved with prepubescent girls, or child-rapists who don't have any ongoing relationship with the child. For an adult fixated on only sexual involvement with prepubescent children, or for heterosexual child-eroticism, pedophile is used instead. However, it's important to note that pedophile and pedophilia refer only to the desire, not to the act, so pedophiles may not have been sexually involved with children. The female equivalent is a korephile.
