Etymology

Borrowed from Late Latin prandialis, or Latin prandium (late breakfast; lunch) (possibly from Proto-Indo-European *pr̥h₃mós (first) (from *preh₃-) + *h₁ed- (to eat) + Latin -ium (suffix forming nouns) (ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *-yós (suffix forming adjectives from noun stems))) +‎ -al (suffix forming adjectives).
