Usage notes

[edit]
  • Occasionally used, including by fully fluent Spanish speakers, with the meaning "to taste" (e.g. *(yo) sepo a azúcarI taste like sugar). This usage is proscribed by the Royal Spanish Academy; the standard form is (i.e., (yo) a azúcar).
  • Practically never used with the meaning "to know"; in this sense the conjugated form is generally understood to be by all adult native speakers.
