Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish سلاحلندرمق,[1] or سلاحلندیرمق (silaḥlandırmaḳ, to make or let arm)[2] from سلاح (silaḥ), equivalent to silah +‎ -la +‎ -n +‎ -dır +‎ -mak. Cognates with Azerbaijani silahlandırmaq.
