From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Korean 소주 (soju), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Chinese 燒酒 (ʃew-t͡sjúw "liquor") (compare (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Mandarin shāojiǔ 烧酒, (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Japanese shōchū 焼酎), from ("burn", "flammable") + ("alcohol").
