[edit]Adapted borrowing of French chicaner + -ować, from Middle Low German schicken, from Old Saxon *skikkian, from Proto-West Germanic *skikkijan, from Proto-Germanic *skikkijaną. Doublet of szykować (“to groom, prepare”).
