Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تكلیف ایتمك (teklif itmek, etmek, to propose, to offer formally or ceremoniously),[1] equivalent to compound of teklif (an act of proposing or offering, proposal) +‎ etmek (to do, to make).[2]
