Galician

Etymology

From Old Galician and Old Galician-Portuguese tregua (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), probably from Gothic 𐍄𐍂𐌹𐌲𐌲𐍅𐌰 (triggwa), inflected form of 𐍄𐍂𐌹𐌲𐌲𐍅𐍃 (triggws, true, faithful); but attested Medieval Latin treuga[1] points perhaps to a West Germanic *trewwa, from Proto-Germanic *trewwō.
