From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *trūtja, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *treu, *trū. Cognate to Ancient Greek τρύω (trúō, to wear out, to exhaust), Lithuanian trūniú, trūněti (to rot,to go faul).[1]
