Greek[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Ancient Greek δρέπω (drépō), possibly from Proto-Indo-European *der- (“to tear, pluck”), related to Proto-Slavic *drapati (“to scratch”). Less certain is the relation with Proto-Germanic *trabō (“fringe”) and Medieval Latin drappus.
